This Is Kaz Currie
I never knew what I wanted to do. Things just happened.
I always knew I wanted to be a part of something creative, I just wasn't sure what. When I was little, I used to do mock interviews with my Dad, and I had this toy FM transmitter that could play music and had a microphone, all while taking over an FM frequency from a short distance. In school, when we were given assignments, I would always ask to go outside the confines of the instructions and do a video or an audio project instead. Even up until high school I did that, and I knew creativity was my strong suit when I took high school Drama and Film & Video.
At a young age, I also learned how music production worked when my Dad came home one day with a music production software he found in a bargain bin. I had so much fun playing around with it that I quickly learned composition. Today, I play guitar, and currently own three electric guitars.
Where I am today
While I've been to multiple radio stations now including CIOE - Sackville Community Radio, CKVE - Cove FM and MBS - FX1019 and 899 The Wave in Halifax, it's time for a change. I graduated from Nova Scotia Community College in the Radio - Television - Journalism program as a Radio Major. I have been producing Electronic Dance Music for 8 years, and can now proficiently use Adobe Audition CC and FL Studios, along with Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere. Now, I'm back at Nova Scotia Community College taking Business Tourism, something that I hope will take me to new places, professionally and personally.
A 24 year old breaking into the tourism industry
What's Next
Two years from now, I will be graduating college for the second time, and I plan to graduate with high marks. So far, my marks have been excellent and I plan to keep that trend up throughout all of school. Once I graduate, I plan to learn the industry more by working multiple jobs in the general tourism industry.
In five years, I wish to open my own bar or lounge, owning, operating, and marketing it myself. Since I enjoy marketing and learning about business, I want to be the one and only in charge of the establishment. I don't have a name for it yet, but I will be updating the minute I do. As well, the establishment will not be in Nova Scotia, and potentially not Canada. I will be looking into living abroad, hopefully in Japan, opening a Canadian/American themed bar or lounge in Japan.
More than anything, in the coming years, I want to be viewed by my peers, family, and friends, as being the best at what I do.
